Interact was founded by three Elkins moms - pediatrician Janna Brown, archaeologist Jessi Thompson, and social worker Lydia Johnson Grady - who met through an outdoor early childhood education program for local families. Casual conversations about the need for more play and educational opportunities for their own children planted the seeds for what would quickly grow to become a community-wide project. We are inspired by children’s museums around the country and we hope to bring some of that magic home to Elkins.

Over the past several months we’ve received our 501(c)3 status, formed a full Board of Directors, and started location scouting! Our next steps? Planning and working on mobile exhibits! Look out for Pop-Up Museum events coming soon!

We need passionate folks in the area to volunteer and join committees! Reach out to us here for volunteer opportunities.
